[New!]
Pocket Bird Recorder 4.1

Now supports devices with a 240 x 240 pixel square screen in addition to the normal 320 x 240 pixel screen.  This allows devices such as the Treo 700W and iPaq 6910/6915 communicators to be used.  The workflow has been improved to  allow the built in keyboard to be used on those devices.

Wildlife Recorder Version 3 - Available Now.

Now includes a built in distribution mapping facility which allows sightings to be plotted onto maps.  Previously Wildlife Recorder supported distribution mapping only by interfacing with the DMAP program which had to be purchased separately.  In Version 3 distribution mapping can be performed either using the provided internal distribution mapping facility or by interfacing with DMAP.

The bird species database provided with version 3 now has detailed distribution text for every sub-species.

Existing users can download version 3 from the Wildlife Recorder User area.

Pocket Bird Recorder 4

This is a major upgrade to Pocket Bird Recorder which is available for devices running Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 2003 SE and Windows Mobile 5.  In addition to the changes required to make the program compatible with Windows Mobile 5, the following improvements have been made:

bulletKeeping more than 1 database on the device e.g. birds and butterflies and switching between them has been made far simpler.
bulletYou can now keep species databases  from more than 1 geographic area on the device and easily switch between them.
bulletBackup and restore facilities are now provided in the main Pocket Bird Recorder program.  Previously these were provided as separate programs.
bulletUsing the latest techniques available in Windows Mobile 5 taking readings from your GPS has been simplified.  GPS readings can also now be taken while other Mobile 5 compliant GPS programs are running on the device.
bulletThe exact location of a trip (map reference and altitude) can now be taken.  Previously the location could only be associated with a site.
bulletLandscape and portrait screen orientation are both supported (Windows 2003 SE and Windows Mobile 2005).

There are many other improvements, click for a list of the major new features in Pocket Bird Recorder 4.
