Minimum
System Requirements
Pocket
Bird Recorder will run on any Palm Pilot device with
the following specification:
OS
Palm OS 3.0 or higher, 2mb or more of RAM.
Palm OS 4.0 or higher required for backups.
Palm OS 5.0 or higher required for sound playback.
IMPORTANT
NOTICE
Pocket Bird Recorder is not compatible with the version of Hotsync
(v6.0.1) shipped with the new Tungsten T5. Unfortunately Palm have
not maintained backward compatibility in this release. It is
unlikely that we will have a version compatible with this version in the
foreseeable future. We cannot therefore recommend any device like
the Tungsten T5 or any device running the new OS5.4x or OS6 operating
systems.
Purchasing
Pocket Bird
Recorder is available by post from Wildlife Computing.
Description
With Pocket
Bird Recorder and a Palm Pilot device you can quickly record
the birds you see and the sites you have visited while
actually out in the field.
Pocket
Bird Recorder is easy and extremely fast to use.
The Palm Pilot will recognise you handwriting so that
all program tasks can be performed using the stylus to
click buttons or write notes in your writing
Pocket
Bird Recorder allows you to enter trip details,
details of species seen and details of the sites visited.
Sightings are automatically summarised to provide a
running list of the birds seen. When used with a suitable
package such as Bird Recorder 32 it will
even tell you how many new species of birds you have seen
on your trip.
Pocket
Bird Recorder is designed to be used as a front
end to any PC based Bird Records system that can accept
the files exported from it. It can also be used as a
standalone system, although limited by the volumes of
data which can sensibly be held on a palm-sized PC. Pocket
Bird Recorder comes complete with bird species
lists for Europe and North America.
Pocket
Bird Recorder is completely integrated into the Bird
Recorder 32 package to allow easy uploading and
downloading of information. A Windows utility is also
provided to allow files to be uploaded from and
downloaded into other packages.

creating/importing the correct format files.
